We can provide contractual liability protection for your goods.

MoveProtect is an extension to our standard contract that allows us to accept liability for loss or damage to your goods in certain circumstances.

Our liability under MoveProtect can be accepted for most goods we move or store. Please read our terms and conditions and MoveProtect Addendum for full details of the protection we can provide.

To benefit from MoveProtect, you must declare an appropriate replacement value for all goods (known as the Maximum Replacement Value). This figure must be adequate to include all goods moved and/or stored by us.

If you do not opt for MoveProtect, our standard terms limit our liability for your goods to a maximum of £40 per item and it is recommended you arrange insurance elsewhere at your own expense.

FAQ

Do I have to insure my goods?

We can provide liability protection under our terms and conditions. Please refer to our MoveProtect page for more information.

Alternatively, if you do not opt for MoveProtect, our standard terms limit our liability for your goods to a maximum of £40 per item and it is recommended you arrange insurance elsewhere at your own expense.

How do I calculate my Maximum Replacement Value?

If you opt for MoveProtect, you must declare an appropriate replacement value for all goods (known as the Maximum Replacement Value). This figure must be adequate to include all goods moved and/or stored by us.

Your Maximum Replacement Value must represent the total current cost of replacing all property allowing for age, quality, degree of use and second hand market value at the time your property is packed or otherwise made ready for removal and/or storage. Additionally, the replacement cost for following items is calculated differently:

  • For any goods which cannot be purchased new (such as antiques or works of art, for example), the replacement value shall be the current market value; and
  • For documents, the replacement value shall be calculated as the physical cost of replacing the documents and/or cost of reprinting, re-issue and/or reconstitution, but excluding the value of the information contained in the documents

If the Maximum Replacement Value you provide is less than the actual total replacement value of all of your property stored at the time of loss or damage, then our liability under MoveProtect will be reduced to reflect the proportion that your Maximum Replacement Value bears to the actual total Replacement Value (“Proportional Reduction”).

For example: if the total replacement value of your property is £30,000, but you have declared a Maximum Replacement Value of £15,000, our liability will be reduced by 50%. So, if £3,000 worth of Your Property is lost or damaged, our liability would be £1,500.

Please read our terms and conditions and MoveProtect Addendum for further information.

There are certain items which are not suitable for removal or storage. Please see the following list, and also refer to paragraph 6 of our terms and conditions:

You agree not to submit the following items (“Excluded Items”) for removal and/or storage:
